Boundaries
The Good and the Bad
Hey Fam,
This week on the Spiritually Sexy Newsletter, we’re talking about boundaries—the good, the bad, and how to balance being selfish and selfless. Setting boundaries is key to keeping your peace and maintaining healthy relationships.
The Good Boundaries
Good boundaries are all about self-care and protecting your mental and emotional health. Here’s how good, selfish boundaries might look:
Putting Yourself First: It’s okay to say no to things that drain you. Whether it's skipping a party to chill at home or saying no to extra work, putting yourself first is necessary.
Time for You: Make sure you have time for your hobbies and growth. This might mean setting limits on how much time you spend helping others.
The Bad Boundaries
Bad boundaries can mess you up, either by being too strict or too loose. Here’s how they might look:
Too Strict: When your boundaries are too tight, you might miss out on good connections and experiences because you're too focused on protecting yourself.
Too Loose: Always saying yes to others while ignoring your own needs will burn you out and make you resentful.
Selfless Boundaries
Sometimes, being selfless with your boundaries is a good thing:
Supporting Your Crew: Sometimes, you gotta make sacrifices to help your people. This might mean being there for a friend even if you have to change your plans.
Healthy Give and Take: Being flexible and willing to compromise shows you value and respect the other person's needs too.
Ego and Pride
Ego and pride can mess with how we set and see boundaries. They can make us seem self-absorbed or selfish, especially if we don’t wanna compromise. Recognizing and managing our ego and pride is key to setting balanced boundaries that protect us and respect others.
Join us as we break down boundaries in this week's newsletter. We’ll share real stories, tips, and how to balance selfish and selfless boundaries.
